PDET employs over 900 people across its 31 academies and Northampton central office. It is our intention to grow further in the next two years.

Although PDET is a large multi academy trust those of us in the central team pride ourselves on knowing our academies and our employees well.

Not all our employees describe themselves as regular church attenders, but feel that they are able to subscribe to the values that we consider important to academies / schools that set out to achieve outstanding education within a distinctly Christian ethos. It is a commonly used phrase to say, “our employees are our greatest asset” however, we feel that in our case it goes beyond just words. We support our employees in many different ways.

Finance Business Partner – Academies

Central Team, reporting to Head of Operational Finance


Location: Bouverie Court, The Lakes, Bedford Road, Northampton

Salary: Applicants will be considered from Grade E to Grade I (NJC) - £18,426 - £29,636 FTE

Permanent Hours of Work: Term time plus 4 weeks in school holiday periods, 37 hours per week, evening work may be required.

Peterborough Diocese Education Trust (PDET) is a Multi Academy Trust that was created in 2014 to allow Church of England Schools to become academies and retain their link to the Diocese of Peterborough. It is currently made up of 31 academies and we have more than 5,600 pupils.

About PDET

Finance PDET’s central finance team is made up of 7 staff. This role is seeking to add to the skills of the team and provide a link between a cluster of academies and the central team. The environment is fast paced and is undergoing a period of significant change presenting an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join the team and make a real difference to how finance will look in the future.


Job purpose: To form a crucial part of PDET’s central team and support a cluster of PDET academies on all financial matters, working effectively with academy Headteachers’ to ensure the financial environment is sound and controls are maintained.

The role will be based at PDET’s central office (subject to Covid-19) but regular travel to the cluster academies will be required.
